Read this!

I’ve been a bad blogger again. What is with that! I have finished my Petrol – Girl vest this past weekend.

I will post…but only after you read that story!

A big, huge, hearty thank you goes out to my SP 11. The final package arrived today and it was a big one.

Look at all that knitty-goodness. Baby alpaca and sock yarn from Knit Picks…so soft. Ornaments for the tree, a “sheep” tote bag, sheep knitting markers, two sheep soaps in chocolate and lavender scents, a needle felting sheep kit, beautiful lavendar with polka-dots ribbon, two BIG bars of chocolate and a two pound bag of Twizzlers.

The kids laughed at the Twizzlers…they know I will finish every single one of them. It all started with Pirates of the Carribean 1…that’s when I had my very first Twizzler.

Thank you Ms. Snapdragons….you really sent a fantastic box.

A fantastic package arrived today from New Zealand. Thank you, Marjorie.

My beautiful Debbie Bliss Cashmerino scarf, so well done, in a dark chocolate brown. It drapes beautifully and feels so buttery soft.

Marjorie included many other goodies, a lovely sewn fabric basket, made by her, some handmade knitting needles from Spin N Wool, chocolate, cards, post cards, a bunny pin, a bunny marker, skein of beautiful hand dyed mohair yarn and a cool notebook, made esp. for me. It has a black/white photo lof a mom, dad, daughter holding up their mittens, with the title “Mittens for the Family”. It’s awesome. Thank you Marjorie….you are the best.

I’ve been a bad blogger again. Blame my addiction to Ravelry. It’s an awesome knitting community and I’ve just met up with a local knitter that wants to get together once in awhile to knit and chat and knit…with the new coffee cafe just around the corner, I’m all for it.

This is Max or Sir Maxamo Roy according to AKC. He’s been fixed, so the papers were not really necessary. That’s Cloud, my DD#1’s evil kitty. She’s spoiled and a brat, but yet can be so loving, as in this photo. Max looks tolerant at the most.

I’m knitting, for myself. The Petrol vest from knitty.com is on the needles, but I am calling it Petrol Girl as the pattern was intended for a man. The bottom of the vest does not call for ribbing, so I added an edge to it, making it a bit more girly. It’s slow going, but with work full-time and a business letter writing class I start this week, I’m a bit busy.

Wow, 23 days till Christmas. Ho, Ho, Ho!

The Red Urchin

Shame on me. I didn’t head straight away to my blog but to Ravelry to post this hat when it was done.
I have been bad to my blogging. I cannot blame anyone but myself.

Completed: November 17, 2007
Urchin pattern by Ysolda Teague on knitty.com
Yarn: Schewe Pianeta, 2 skeins = 306.0 yards,

My DD#1 is modeling it for me…but it’s all mine.
She’s been knitting alot this week, having made two ear flap hats for herself without a pattern. She’s Mommy’s little crafter. I love it.
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone….peace to the world and ewe!

Montego Bay Scarf

Tada! Guess what I’m wearing tomorrow with my new red Dansko Mary Janes, you betcha, my finished Montego Bay Scarf.
I gave up going to the 80 inch mark. I love it the way it is. I want to thank my darling daughter #1, A, for taking the time to braid the forty sections of trim for me…my hands just couldn’t do it. Thank goodness for such useful youth.

Greta, take a bow!

Another finished project.
The “Greta”

Finished: November 3, 2007
Yarn: Reynolds Lopi, 10 skeins, in a grape-purple.
Needle Size: US 8 & US 10

This is a jacket, not a sweater. Perfect for cool, crisp sea air, such as Ft. Worden, where the annual knitting retreat is held.

Two-toned gone one

Finished this cashmere blend shrug this past weekend while at knitting retreat…hanging with my mates. Had a lovely time. Mar & I were happy that we went up on Thursday…still time to shop and dine, leaving Saturday for some serious knitting.
Project Specs:
Started: July 26, 2007
Completed: November 3, 2007
Yarn: Lion Brand Cashmere Blend, 8 balls (on sale for $7.99 each)
Needle Size: US 8

I’m off tomorrow morning with Mary…a bit of shopping, some lunch, some more browsing, maybe a bit more shopping and then we will be at Ft. Worden.

Check out a bit of it’s haunty history…Happy Halloween! (p.s. the person that created the Hollow Hill site that I linked to has it listed as Seattle, WA, but it’s next to Port Townsend, WA, across the water and many, many miles Northwest of Seattle).

Knitting note: I have completed all but the collar on my Greta jacket. One can not call this a sweater, it is a jacket/coat weight, even with the length shortened. Hope to have the collar done this weekend. Only 2 1/2 weeks to knit all but the collar. It was a late night last night, up till 12:30 a.m. (hey, that’s this morning) getting it all pieced together. While I was seaming away, I asked myself, several times, “again, why do I knit”?

Greta

No, not my little bunny…but the sweater I started on Oct. 14th.

Tonight was the bi-monthly knitting meetup at Yorkshire Yarns in Lakewood. I worked hard, knitting for almost a solid two hours. I am currently knitting the right front, with only two more cable turns to go before decreasing for the arms.

There is absolutely no pictures out on the net of the “Greta” sweater that is in the Best of Lopi book. If you have it, check out page 66-67 for this sweater.

Since Oct. 14th, I have finished both sleeves and the left front. I hope to have the right front finished tomorrow evening, as there are no plans to go anywhere other than my great room to watch Ballykissangel.

Knitting retreat starts next Wednesday. I will be picking up M on Thursday…so I have until Wednesday to get this sweater done. I must have something new to wear and present for show-n-tell.

Besides, I will need a new project to work on at retreat, right?

How about “Juliet” by Zephyr?
