Here it is. My tribute to the English-style moveable chicken coop. I saw one in the Sept/Oct 98′ issued of Countryside Magazine…it gave a few measurements and a list of the materials used, but for the most part…it was built as I went.
My dh wants to claim back the land my five chickens are currently using….no where near the garden. To save my garden and my chickens all in once swoop…I took the past week to build a safe and functional area for 3-4 chickens to run and roost.
Folks, I just have to say there is nothing, I mean, nothing like a fresh farm egg.
I still need to finish the flashing for the roof and the vents on the roost-house sides. There is a back door that opens to gather eggs with ease.
Winkie and Buttercup will love all the little bugs in my orchard area…

Nice job! I bet those eggs taste wonderful!
Great chicken coop. I remember when I was a child, and my dad had about 8 chickens, and the eggs were wonderful, especially being able to go to the coop and collect them. You did a wonderful job, and I am sure the chooks will love it too. Nothing like fresh eggs to eat.
Oh How I miss the fresh eggs from our chickens when I lived on the farm.
Your coop looks great!
